Select Demo was contracted by a national engineering firm to perform the structural demolition, asbestos abatement, PCB remediation and hazardous material decontamination clean-up of this 255,000 SF power plant. Select’s scope also included the abatement of a six-story hung boiler. Select utilized a 250-ton crane with a dead man to further collapse a failing roof structure. The steel was left in place and Select built a new roof structure to contain the entire building. The collapsed roof was abated under a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Nontraditional Work Plan.
