MIT – East Campus Residential Hall Renovations, Cambridge, MA

Project Value Range: $4.5 million - $5 million

Select Demo was contracted by Consigli Construction Co. to perform the demolition and removal of all GWB with asbestos joint compound, original wood window frame with associated asbestos and PCB caulking, asbestos flooring in Buildings 62 and 64 - both being five levels and 75,000 SF each in a vacant college residence hall. All painted masonry surfaces were treated as PCB bulk product waste, with all material being handled by Select Demo and shipped off as PCB bulk product waste on a non-hazardous waste manifest. Select’s demolition scope pertaining to this became a part of the abatement scope (i.e. saw cutting, slab removal, masonry openings etc.). This scope is part of the larger MIT East Campus Renovation Project spanning from Summer 2023 - Summer 2025. East Campus has been selected as the next residential renewal project as part of MIT’s 2030 campus renovation and renewal plan.
