Select Demo was contracted by Consigli Construction Company to perform the complete takedown and removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials, PCB’s, and hazardous materials in six vacant former religious retreat buildings totaling 65,000 SF to make way for the new Waltham High School. The MA DEP issued SDS a Non-Traditional Work Plan (NTWP) for the removal of PCB containing coatings on concrete within the site (mastic on slab and floor tile that contained asbestos and PCB's). There was also asbestos waterproofing and copper flashing on the façade. The asbestos waterproofing on the foundation of one of the buildings was included in the MA DEP NTWP. This project was performed on an extremely condensed schedule with no incidents or injuries.
