Select Demo was contracted directly by MIG Corporation to perform the demolition of two structurally deficient bridges carrying I-91 (both NB & SB) over the Pan Am Railroad in Greenfield, MA, including their superstructures, bituminous wearing surfaces, concrete bridge decks, steel stringers and diaphragms, bearings, railings and bridge utilities. Select’s scope also consisted of the demolition of the two bridges’ substructures consisting of approach slabs, backwalls, abutments, wingwalls and selective footings. This project was performed in two phases. The two deteriorating bridges were replaced with two new bridges by MIG, along with the widening of both bridges to minimize traffic impacts and the inclusion of 900+ feet of roadway improvements on bridge approaches.
